VOCABULARY (WORDS FROM “Aero and Officer Mike”)

TEST ON FRIDAY, January 18

1. ability – skill

EXAMPLE: My mom has the ability to do five things at a time.

2. patrol – walk through an area to watch or guard it

I was relieved that the police officer was going to patrol our neighborhood on Halloween night.

3. loyal – firm in supporting someone

When you get older, you’ll be able to count your loyal friends on one hand.

4. partners– two people who work together

Our class does a lot of fun partner work when reviewing concepts.

5. shift –  the period of time a worker does his or her job

Since my dad works the night shift frequently, he usually sleeps during the day.

6. snap – to bite quickly

My heart pounded when I saw the alligator’s mouth quickly snap down.

7. lying–  stretching out on the ground

When my cat is lying down, I thoroughly enjoy petting her.

8. quiver– to shake or tremble

If a guard dog begins to quiver, move away because he probably senses extreme danger.
